RXT(tm) SabreMedia: Choose the Right Disk for Your Data
Mobile RXT SabreMedia is available in a range of capacities and RAID levels, giving you a choice not available with any other secondary storage option. You can add RXT SabreMedia packs in the same way you add tape, while also taking advantage of the speed and reliability of disk along with the mobility of tape. Choose the right SabreMedia for your data, with the capacity and RAID level that the data needs.
When you order SabreMedia, you select:
- RAID Level
- Type of SabreMedia pack - including its capacity
RAID Level
When you order a SabreMedia pack, specify its RAID level so that when your SabreMedia arrives, you don't have to do anything except to start using it.
- RAID 0: One copy of data striped across multiple disks; fast, uses 100% of capacity, but no redundancy.
- RAID 1: Data is mirrored between two disks; requires twice the capacity, but fully redundant.
- RAID 1+0: One Data set striped (RAID-0) accross multiple sets of mirrored (RAID-1) disks; requires twice the capacity, but is very fast and highly fault-tolerant.
- RAID 5: One copy of the data, along with parity, is striped across multiple disks; can rebuild if a disk is lost; has more usable space than RAID 1 while providing redundancy.
